Govt Approves Unified Azan and Prayer Timings for Islamabad & Rawalpindi
The federal government has officially approved a unified Azan and congregational prayer timetable for Islamabad and Rawalpindi to promote religious harmony and unity.
The decision was made in a consultative meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, with participation from scholars of all schools of thought and representatives from the business community.
According to officials, a common prayer schedule will be issued soon. Legislation is also in progress to implement the same system across Pakistan. Traders have expressed their willingness to close shops after the Azan in support of the initiative.
The project will begin as a pilot phase starting with Friday prayers. If successful, it will be expanded nationwide and serve as a model for the rest of the country.
